This weekend was filled with all things Christmas. Doesn’t that sound fun? Or rather, shouldn’t that sound fun?

Until I became a parent I truly did not understand the amount of work involved in putting up Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas decorations. There is no break, it is not fun, and I am exhausted. I feel like an Elf, and aside from Sunny’s Santa gifts (thank you Black Friday) I have purchased nothing for no one.  If I believe in Santa Claus will he come to my home and supply my family with useful, beautiful gifts? I might write him a letter…it couldn’t hurt.

Saturday we started our weekend -o- fun at Stew Leonards. I’ve mentioned this family farm before. It is, at least to me, the happiest place on Earth. All fresh fruits and foods, fresh organic meats, cheese, butter, milk, and bread. If you find yourself in Westchester or close by, do yourself a favor and stop in one.

We spent much of Saturday evening at Home Depot.

Then on to buy the Christmas tree, whoo hoo! This year will be Sunny’s 2nd Christmas. She was 11 days old last Christmas so the decorated tree with giant red bulbs thing is very new to her. We hung the ornaments pretty high due to a fear of her yanking the entire thing over on top of herself, me, or my dining room table.

Has this ever actually happened or is this one of my deeply rooted fears that I have created in my head but is actually physically impossible?

Today I met an 8 year old who informed me that there is no Santa Claus and that Jesus does not like Christmas. I ‘m not in the habit of arguing with 8 years olds but my immediate thought was A.) I feel so sorry for you little girl and B.) Your Mama told you that so she wouldn’t have to decorate the tree, buy you gifts, or make a huge dinner and have her entire family over. Oh I’m on to her folks, I know crazy when I see it.

Rugs, rugs, rugs

We need a new family room rug. It's a high traffic area and my little blue rug just isn't doing it anymore.

I'm between these….

I refinish odds and ends and work as much as I can with what I've got, but I can not weave a rug. Although I'd love to learn how to reupholster a chair…I'd also love to run a half marathon, since we're discussing impossible things.
