Creating A Themed Newborn Session

Creating A Themed Newborn Session

Professional Photography Photos

A couple of years ago I was fortunate to meet a client who was pregnant with a little boy and had a firefighter husband. They wanted to take their new babies newborn photos in the local firehouse, among the fire trucks.  They are no ordinary couple. When baby Henry arrived, I snapped away, as his parents allowed me to take professional photography photos of their son. He was naked on a giant fire truck, and on top of enormous fire hoses! You have to have a certain type of personality for professional photos of your newborn on heavy equipment. This family is generous with their energy, spreading warmth and happiness wherever they go. They are laid back, up for anything, and genuinely excited by life.

About Hudson

When they called to tell me that baby number two was arriving and we were going back to the firehouse, I think I was more excited than they were! I worried a little that Hudson wouldn’t be as easy going as his big brother Henry, because how could one family get two fully sleeping, naked on a fire truck babies? Well they did and thank God for that because if possible, we had even more fun taking Hudson’s professional photography photos. The boys were completely safe during their shoot. The trucks were not  on, the hoses were steadied, and their parents were on hand spotting the boys at all times.

Themed Newborn Session

Themed newborn photo shoots are as much fun for the artist as they are for the parents. I love a good baby on a blanket shot, but there is something very special about a baby wrapped in his Dad’s fireman’s coat, with the same initials. To me, themed newborn portraits tell the story of a family. You’re apart of this coven, this life, this tradition. I don’t know where Henry and Hudson’s lives will take them, but I’m very grateful to have captured a piece of the very beginning.
